Acoustic Led Zeppelin Covers

Posted Mon Jul 13, 2009 6:13pm PDT by Robert of the Radish in The Y! Music Playlist Blog

Like the Beatles, Led Zeppelin are one of those iconic bands that have had an immeasurable influence on popular music. You would be hard-pressed to find a rock band today that has not been influenced by Led Zeppelin in some form or fashion. Of course, they really just took what the blues gave us and took it to the next level. But the combination of Page's superb guitar work, Bonham's infectious, off-kilter drumming and Plant's sexualized vocals made their music something that would guide the future direction of rock & roll. Although the band proved that they could deliver acoustic-based songs with great effect, when one thinks of Led Zeppelin, one thinks of pure electric power.

For this playlist I've selected only Led Zeppelin covers as performed completely with acoustic instruments. Led Zeppelin-lite, if you will.

Robert, once again your list delivers. I wish I had not used my rhapsody plays already, but hey, whenever I have enough $$ to fill my MP3, this will definately be considered. Thanks.

I like the Lovemongers version of "The Battle of Evermore" better. It's on the Singles soundtrack. The Lovemongers is the acoustic Heart side project.

AP - There's something about the honeyed sweetness of Joseph Calleja's voice that seems to evoke memories of a golden age, as if this young tenor carried within his vocal cords a secret passed down from bygone generation… More »
