Superior Genius Playlist: Vol. 2, Dig A Pony

Posted Sat Jun 6, 2009 7:30pm PDT by Robert of the Radish in The Y! Music Playlist Blog

Last week I posted volume 1 of the Superior Genius Playlist series.  These playlists are created by picking a 5-star song and letting iTunes Genius pick the rest from my iTunes library. The software is pretty eerie in how it can select songs that sound so incredibly great together. Last week, volume one was based on the Nick Cave song "Here She Comes, My Beautiful World". This week, I wanted to see what would be produced if I selected the band that influenced all bands to come after them -- The Beatles. So, I chose one of my favorite Beatles' albums, "Let It Be", then one of my favorite tracks from that album, "Dig A Pony". Of course, I'm a little biased since all the selections are from my own personal library, but the iTunes Genius really is getting the job done.

What do you think, and what song should I use for Volume 3?

Hey Radish!....What song should you use for Volume 3?....
I dunno...How about something by Frank Zappa?.....

3. __A_YAHOO_USER__ -
DUDE, that would be awesome! Now THAT playlist would be very interesting indeed.

4. Yahoo! Music User -
I'm thinking "Open Organ" by Sébastien Schuller, "Two Weeks" by Grizzly Bear, or "Make Light" by Passion Pit would be good ones to use for Vol. 3

5. Yahoo! Music User -
How about Entombed-"Retaliation" or Six Feet Under-"Braindead" for number 3, Radish Dude?

6. Britni -
Maybe some metal? You could pick a classic like Metallica's Master of Puppets or Megadeth's Peace Sells or even Slayer's Raining Blood!
