Top 10 Songs About Horses

Posted Tue Apr 14, 2009 6:08pm PDT by Robert of the Radish in The Y! Music Playlist Blog

Equus ferus caballus, otherwise known as the common horse, is an animal that human beings have always had a strong connection with. Our relationship with the horse can be traced back thousands of years, and many historians believe that we first started to domesticate the horse as early as 4000 BC.

Once man had domesticated the horse, human beings became much more productive. We quickly discovered that horses could help us complete tasks that previously took many men working in unison. They also extended our land range since they were the perfect animal on which to ride.

Here in America horses have long been a symbol of freedom and the old west. They have also been a big part of the musical landscape, and not only in the country & western genre.

This playlist contains my picks for the top 10 songs written about the horse.
