Artists Who Will Perform At The Inauguration of Barack Obama

Posted Tue Jan 13, 2009 2:20pm PST by Robert of the Radish in The Y! Music Playlist Blog

We are just one week away from the inauguration of Barack Obama who will become the 44th President Of The United States Of America, and the first American of African descent to hold the nation's highest office. Although breaking the Presidential race barrier is a monumental historic moment in itself, the transfer of power also has enormous significance for many other reasons. The current financial crisis and economic recession, wars being fought on two fronts and an ongoing battle against terrorism are all huge issues that have a nation on the edge. Millions if not billions are looking to Barack Obama to deliver on his promises of hope and change.

History is converging like most have not seen in their lifetime.

The current state of the world, the historic nature of an Obama presidency and the charisma of the man himself, are attracting throngs to Washington D.C. to experience the historic moment in person. This will be the most attended and most watched inauguration in history.

Although the most important thing the world will hear on January 20th will be, "I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States (So help me God)", there will also be many musical interludes during the inauguration ceremonies.

This playlist includes the artists who have been selected to participate in the historic event.

Well, in part I'm happy Obama won, but really, he really isn't that radical. Same mold, p'haps?

But enough politics. Nice list, for a historic event.

And Progress, that was incoherent...it made no sense....but w/e...
