Union Civil War Songs

Posted Fri Nov 21, 2008 6:17pm PST by Robert of the Radish in The Y! Music Playlist Blog

I am currently reading The March by E.L. Doctorow, which is an historical novel that follows General William Tecumseh Sherman on his march through the south. It has completely sucked me in and has inspired me to create this playlist of Union Civil War songs.

Also, keep tuned as I plan to create a Rebel Civil War Songs playlist sometime soon. I do live in the south after all. Please send your suggestions for that list. In the meantime, this playlist will be great to play in the background while you read your own copy of The March.

Can you make a list of memorial songs? Not sappy and depressing but songs to remember a persons life. Wind beneath my wings is overused. I need songs for people who weren't so good, or they pulled their life around.
