Joe Nichols Discusses New Album, "Old Things New"

Hey, trick or treat! It's been a couple years since we've had a new release from Joe Nichols. But just in time for your Halloween goody bag, he's released Old Things New, his fifth major label album.

I've always thought Joe is one of the best vocalists in modern country music for switching up moods--he can effortlessly make you cry (my personal favorite: the heart-tugging video for "If Nobody Believed In You"), then get you swingin' with one of those insane snap-happy tunes that you can't get out of your head (my fave again: "What's A Guy Gotta Do").

And, like all good country stars these days, he crosses party lines! Rocker Chad Kroeger is a fan, having covered "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off" at Nickelback shows. (No word on whether Joe is planning on reciprocating with Nickelback's "Something In Your Mouth." The two sort of seem to go together thematically, but it would be a true test of his musical flexibility. Right?)

The new record doesn't disappoint--continuing in this vein, Joe gets you nostalgic, a bit blue, and then feeling like you could dance on a table or two. In this exclusive clip, he discusses his inspirations and mindsets behind several songs on Old Things New, including his hit "Believers" and second single "Gimmie That Girl."

Check it out here first on Y! Music, then let us know what you think of the new record.

As always, be sure to:
