These songs been covered in so many hokey ways--on cruise ships, in karaoke bars, in hotel lounges, by bar mitzvah bands, in Vegas, in pretty much every corny setting Simon always mentions when critiquing a bad performance.

I'm confused about Alexis's exit and Allison's failure to connect with voters. At this rate, I think Simon and his cronies are going to have to use that Judges' Save option a whole lot sooner than they'd assumed.

I was bummed that tonight's St. Patrick's episode was country-themed. Why not a Thin Lizzy Night? Why not make Bono a mentor? Or at least make the top 11 wear green (or risk being pinched by Paula)?

Last year, I praised a So You Think Can Dance performance by a new pop diva named Lady GaGa. Judging from the message board, readers did not share my enthusiasm. They were wrong.

If under different circumstances Kanye had auditioned for Idol as a nobody and delivered this sort of vocal, the only way he would have ended up on Idol would've been on a bad-audition blooper-reel.
