Clay, Remolded
So the new Clay Aiken publicity photo landed in my inbox today...
Yikes.
Now, keep in mind that I expected Clay to look, well...different.
After all, lately Clay has undergone enough makeovers to rival his fellow quickchange diva Madonna.
For instance, there was that brunette K.D. Lang shag he rocked at the season 5 American Idol finale, when he shocked his "lookalike" idolizer Michael Sandecki as well as the entire Fox viewing audience.
Then he packed on about 30 pounds of body fat (inspiring nasty nicknames like "Clay Bacon" and "Clay Tummy-Achin'"), and probably twice that weight in spackled-on makeup, for his role in Broadway's Spamalot.
And still, when I unwittingly checked my email this morning like I do on any uneventful Monday, I was in no way prepared for Clay's latest look.
Take a deep breath and scroll down:
Oh, my Aiken eyes!
Sorry, I don't mean to be cruel. I love me some Clay. Really, I do. But this photo frightens me.
So what do you think of Clay 3.0? Post your thoughts below--and try not to spamalot, OK?

He could be the Louis!!
Look at his hand...so white, its luminescent.
Anyway, Clay's new album is great, and that's all that matters.
You can listen to it on AOL New Music http://music.aol.com/songs/new_releases_full_cds
As to the charities, Spamalot raised over $264,000 in two weeks for Broadway Cares and a huge huge chunk of that was due to Clay, who willing auctioned off many items, including M&G, dinner, items etc. Also he signed hundreds of playbills and posters to sell as well as picture frames for the photos they took. While a few others stayed after the shows to take up to 50+ pics with fans, most times they went on their way to lunch or dinner or home, while Clay stayed after EVERY performance to pose for pictures with fans to raise tons of money. They have never gotten more than $100,000 in their 3 years -- there's a huge reason why this year they tripled the amount and came in second in the entire Broadway contest -- to a group who collected for 6 weeks, not just 2. Clay is the most giving celebrity I have seen in a very long time with all he does -- much of which is never publicized. He even gave a percentage of all the merchandise sales that were "his" for Spamalot to the Broadway Cares drive. And he has already said he will be making a 5th Unicef trip this summer. Not bad for a guy who wasn't even an Ambassador for them till the end of 2004, just a little over 3 years ago.
Anyway, he's got a great voice and he's actually smart--don't find too much of that in entertainment today.
I think Clay is very handsome and his fabulous green eyes can easily draw you in!
I've been a fan since day one. I love his sense of humor that I have seen at concerts and in interviews..and wonder sometimes what it would be like if he would really "let go" :)
I am proud to be a fan and will continue to support him in every way possible.
I wish more men in the world were like him! His mother has every right to be proud!
Congratulations to Clay on another wonderful cd...I absolutely loved the cover songs on ATDW as well as MOAM and MCWL. I wish him continued success and eagerly await his next "new look" :)
