Allen's Prank Call: Kris Gets The Last Laugh

Posted Tue Oct 27, 2009 2:17pm PDT by Lyndsey Parker in Reality Rocks

Kris Allen has admittedly sometime been upstaged by his more glittery and outlandish fellow American Idol, Adam Lambert, but he had the last laugh about the Adam-vs.-Kris issue this week when he went on the Y100 radio station and made a very amusing prank call to a vocal coach.

Kris rang up the unsuspecting teacher and told him that he wanted to sound like his vocal role model: yes, Adam Lambert. Amusingly, the coach revealed that he was unimpressed by the vocal stylings of both Adam and Kris, and said former Idol Clay Aiken was more his speed.

And all the while Kris played along, agreeing that "Kris Allen sucks!" and "Clay Aiken's the bomb!" before dropping the real bomb and revealing his true identity to the shocked singing coach.

Fast-forward to the 1:15 mark below and enjoy the perfect comic timing of Kris Allen at his sardonic best:

And no, Kris did not take this guy up on his offer to learn how to sing more like Clay...

Oh God the coach is a Claymate..how embarrassing for both the coach and Kris.

Kris has nothing to be embarrassed about. The vocal coach is probably some sex-degenerate using the whole vocal coach thing to lure unsuspecting victims to his lair. This is evident by his fondness for Clay Aiken and inability to recognize true vocal talent. Kiddies, beware of RALPH the vocal coach lurking around at pee-wee baseball!

Kris was so funny. I would've started laughing as soon as the "voice coach" said Clay Aiken. Ralph has no idea what he's talking about. FOUR for you Kris Allen! You go, Kris Allen. And none for you Ralph.

Ummm.... guys, to me it sounded more like KRIS was being set up. The way the vocal coach was talking, he was being overly gratuitous using Kris' name. It seemed as if this was someone the station hired, not a real vocal coach. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

For tenor from Malta, a star-making role?

AP
Thu Nov 26, 2009 12:01am PST

AP - There's something about the honeyed sweetness of Joseph Calleja's voice that seems to evoke memories of a golden age, as if this young tenor carried within his vocal cords a secret passed down from bygone generation… More »
