VH1: "World's Worst Channel"?

Posted Tue Feb 17, 2009 12:30pm PST by Lyndsey Parker in Reality Rocks

Today must be Opposite Day, because parody rapper SeanieMic has released some Weird Al-style comedy music video claiming that VH1 is the worst channel ever.

Huh? Doesn't he mean BEST channel ever? After all, this is the network that brought us such Emmy-worthy programs as...

For The Love Of Ray J!

New York Goes To Hollywood!

Real Chance Of Love!

The Pick-Up Artist!

I Love Money AND...

I Love Money 2!

What is Seanie THINKING?

Well, whether or not I agree with Seanie's anti-VH1 rap/rant, I must admit that his new "State Of Reality" video--which is set to the melody of Pharrell & Kanye West's "Number One" and skewers all my fave celebreality stars, even perpetual TV bachelors Bret Michaels and Flavor Flav--is actually pretty funny:

SeanieMic doesn't like Brett Michaels because Brett gets laid all the time, and he doesn't.

2. Kenneth -
The reason that channels "entertainment" is so popular is because people are idiots and only want the dull stuff that is spoon fed to them.

3. Chris the first -
I second Kenneth's remark. VH1 sucks, they've fallen to the same fate as MTV, playing more non-music programing than what their name suggests.

Eww...people still watch this junk?

Well, Lyndsey (assuming you weren't being sarcastic...), VH1 does suck. I don't even need to watch one show to know what it will be: Crap.

And I dislike most celebs mentioned...Gosh I hate VH1 and MTV..

Heck, I'm a teenager and I hate them! But then again, I was the only one at my school who thought the JB's sucked at the grammys...or who knows who the Pixies are...

Hm. Ah, well. VH1 sucks.

I'm being sarcastic, and yet I'm not. I mean, yes I think these shows are brain-rotting fare...and yet, I love them. My semi-rotted brain tels me not to watch, but my heart urges me to tune in!

6. Gail A -
The only VH1 show that I watch now is Best Week Ever, and even that isn't as good as it used to be.

I miss Pop Up Videos. It was fun and I learned lots of trivia from it. And the World Series of Pop Culture was also cool. The only reality show they've had that I liked was the one with Jerry Hall and the young men competing for her. Why do they cancel good stuff like this and leave junk on the air?

7. Yahoo! Music User -
these music channels don't play any real mucic at all even when they do. I think Chris Brown should beat them senseless.

8. Yahoo! Music User -
LP, my answer would be yes, yes it is the worst channel. Thank you and please continue to follow your heart and be thankful your brain is only half rotted......Is the glass half full or.......

9. TenillestL -
Actually VH1 has beaten MTV to the race to the bottom, who would've thunk. The shows are ridiculous. For the Love of Ray J, really? Rock of Love Tour Bus, really? Tool Academy!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????!!!!!! REALLY!? What has our entertainment been reduced to?

Ever since Pop Up Video was canceled, it's been a long train to [profane]sville.

11. mikez34 -
Seriously, what has Ray J done besides have sex with Kim Kardashian?

12. MsSchadenfreude -
Davzroll, that made me laugh. It really did, loved the way you threw that in there.

VH1 is junk, just like MTV. It makes me sad to say I'm an American...where as some little girls LIKE and decided to follow people like
Megan or Daisy's footsteps. It's a travesty.

MTV and VH1 can go to hell with their 'realiy' bull.

13. Karen -
You mean, there are actually SHOWS on VH1? I thought it was all commercials.

14. Rachel -
Did anyone see Jerry O'Donnell on Ellen recently? He was talking about his new twin daughters (and he has another daughter already) with Rebecca Romijin (formerly Stamos). He said it is his life goal to raise his daughters so they won't want to be on a VH-1 reality show. Pretty funny! (and, sadly, so so true...)
Haven't watched the Seanie clip yet; but will at home (where I have sound on my computer:)

Oh... it's not that bad LOL. Although they could show more urban video like from my Mike Jones.

Oh snap… don’t forget that Mike Jones is dropping his newest album “The Voice” April 14th.

Surely you heard by now his joints Drop & Gimme 50, Cuddy Buddy and now Next To You. Don’t sleep on Mr. Jones!

You can listen to “Next To You” here: http://www.imeem.com/mikejones/music/5_AbH3Pv/mike_jones_next_to_you/

I stopped watching VH1 a couple years ago - I loved loved LOVED the early days when Rosie O'Donnell would play old Queen and Monkees videos.
