Madonna Vs. Gaga 'SNL' Catfight: Ultimate Battle Of The Blondes

Posted Sun Oct 4, 2009 12:00pm PDT by Lyndsey Parker in As Heard On...

Many music critics have heralded new-school diva Lady Gaga, who was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live this weekend, as the rightful heir to Madonna's Queen Of Pop throne. So naturally, Madonna made a surprise appearance on SNL to defend her title.

And thus, the wish shared by millions of red-blooded male viewers was granted, as the catfight to end all catfights ensued (fast-forward to the 4:00 mark to get to the catty part, although the Kristen Wiig and Ryan Reynolds techno songs earlier in the skit are funny too):

Wow, that Gaga can get pretty aggressive. Wonder if she was secretly pretending Madonna was Kanye West instead?

uggh, i didn't like it at all. i thought the part with kristin wigg and ryan reynolds was ok, quite funny, but when those two showed up, it felt forced and random and awkward. neither can act, the jokes were half-assed, and they were just clownish (and not very good at it, either) and people would only like this because half the time their butts were hanging out. i've lost a little bit of respect for madonna, and this is just another reason why i detest lady gaga.

I happen to think LadyGagg-A is butt ugly even though her voice is golden. Same for Madonna. I wish them both the best of success! They obviously have the best promoters, nevertheless. It is ALL about the money!!!!!

This was a joke - but in real life, when compared to Madonna, Lady Gaga doesn't even "compute."

I like Gaga's ass, thank you.

are you kidding me! No way is Lady Gaga in the same class as the Material Girl. Madonna rocks!

6. Leora -
Lady Gagga can sing!?! i loved that she played piano and showed everyone that she can sing!

Another poorly written article. And Jerry L get a clue, it's not about the money, it's about the music. You listen to the music and have nothing to do with "the money".

I'm not going to complain in anyway. I enjoyed the skit, and I think they're both beautiful talented women.

It was classic Madonna in action and I loved it as corny as it was! I still laughed! Lady Gaga is Madonna on acid! I am a new fan...

I thought it was HILARIOUS. It looked like both ladies were poking fun at the people trying to create a rivalry between them. I respect both artists and very much enjoyed the skit.

I cracked up when lady gaga did her second song. I don't think she thought that metal ring contraption through all the way. It kept hitting her in the head as she performed! Funny Stuff!

As a longtime fan of SNL(35yrs), and a man that spent most of his pubescent years lusting after the blonde material girl, I'll guarantee that was NOT the REAL Madonna! It was one of this seasons newest cast members that pulled off a convincing portrayal of the pop diva. I wasn't fooled though. Watch the video again folks! Look close. Lady Gaga is todays Madonna and is well on her way to fill the void when the original "Virgin" decides to hang up her gloves. The Lady is talented enough and a long career ahead of her, not to mention a young fanbase that will mirror Madonna's fans as they get older.
They're BOTH smokin' hot freaks that can sing, dance and wow their audiences, and will continue to on a regular basis.
This is just my opinion; I could be wrong........

ron--you are wrong.

madonna was a marketing tool at best with a lousy voice. she single handidly corrupted women singers by her ultra sexualization of women singers so that no longer was musical talent important, but only how sexualized the image could be. while madonna made buckets of money for herself, she reduced women in music to nothing but sexual tools and negatively affected all women in the world who want to be regarded for more than their sexuality.

at least lady gaga can play an instrument and write music; unfortunately, when she realized that unless she became a wet dream for the likes of consumers like Ron she wouldn't register in the public consciousness; lady gaga caved in-- she donned her silly get ups and started to perform in leotards. again, the victim of madonna's setting women in music back to the stone age..

One of the worst SNL episodes ever. And it hurts me to say that because I love the show.

LaBoite,

My being wrong is your opinion, you're entitled to it.
A fantasy sexual encounter, maybe, but wet dreams only occur when dreaming of past liasons w/your mother! Leave me out of your judgemental comments. Thanx.
My reason for commenting was to point out to the author that that wasn't Madonna on SNL.
I'm not a "consumer", I'm human. With eyes, for seeing. I enjoy and appreicate a woman's sexuality and freedom to express it. I applaude them for having the balls to do what they do and not care what society thinks or says about them. No matter how YOU judge them LaBoite, they're going to persevere.

I swear SNL is so f------ unfunny! Why do people rave about this s---??? Nothing like it's hayday. They are riding on the oldt-time success. Tina Fey as Sarah Palin was he funniest thing I've ever seen on this show. I did not laugh once through this whole skit. Who writes this crap?
