Weezer, Framed

Posted Fri Jun 27, 2008 11:34am PDT by John Kordosh in Framed

This week, we’re giving you a twofer of sorts--a Weezer Framed, but also a Happy Days Framed.

The reason, of course, is their justly-famous video for “Buddy Holly,” off their first album, Weezer. (Weezer’s so cool that three of their albums are titled Weezer. Nowadays, their first LP is commonly called The Blue Album.) The video, in which director Spike Jonze used footage from the once-megapopular Happy Days show, was a smash hit back in 1994, and went on to win four MTV Video Music Awards. It’s still pretty damn funny, too.

Weezer, of course, went on to make the even-better Pinkerton album, and three others, and are back this year with Weezer (The Red Album), which came out a few weeks ago. Is the new record any good?  We can only quote Y! Music’s own ace critic, Dave DiMartino, in New This Week, who enthused “This album is unquestionably red, as its parenthetical title implies, so it sounds great!” Dave knows all about music!

Enjoy classic Weezer at their best, and please let us know what you think!

Important blog note! Buh duh duh duh duh duh! They say it’s your birthday! Buh duh duh duh duh duh! It’s our birthday, too, yeah!

That’s right; Framed will be one year old on Sunday! No reason to go to church now!  Instead, stay home and drink, as we’ll be doing, and thank the Randomness That Is The Universe for bringing Framed to your computer screen! We’d like to thank all of our readers and everyone who’s posted here, and look forward to many more exciting episodes of Framed, The Blog That Likes you!

1 - “Happy Days” was filmed before a live audience!  Sort of!

2 - In the 1950s, kids made mischief by “switching seats.”  Crazy, daddy-o!

3 - “Yes, Marion, Leather Tuscadero’s a well-known lesbian.  But control yourself.”

4 - “Come to think of it, what is with those homies dissing his girl?  Why, I oughtta!”

5 - “Sweet Jesus, please let me wish myself out of this horrible middle class nightmare.  Please.”

6 – Would Fonzie’s slow dance with Mrs. C and the unraveling of the Cunningham’s once-solid marriage be linked?

7 – The bar for Weezer groupies has never been set terribly high.

8 – Anson Williams, left, would go on to distinguish himself as a director on Baywatch and Xena, Warrior Princess.  On the right, Ralph Malph.

9 – “Fonzie!  You did jump the shark!  You did!!”

10 – Despite being in a fictional Milwaukee and a Weezer video, a confused Pat Morita cheers on Daniel-San’s victory in the storied All-Valley Karate Championship!

11 –  “But I’m telling you, Fonzie!  I gave it up to Chachi last night!!”

12 – “Sorry, Al, but I really don’t think a Joanie Loves Chachi And They Both Love Weezer project will resonate at all.”

Hilarious! Although I didn't like the sad pic of Mr. C contemplating the slow demise of marital bliss.

Oh, wait, that part was hilarious too.

Maestro, I say write on!

John, are you the musician from detroit?

It's Brian Major, from the trappers alley concert series.

Hit me up!

Hi, Brian, and welcome to Framed. Indeed I am from Detroit, and I played music back there... but now I live in the paradise that is Southern California, like all the people at Y! Music. We have a castle and everything!

I saw Ralph Malph talking to a fire hydrant yesterday in North Hollywood.

John, I did not know you were from Detroit. I used to go visit 2 uncles up there in the summer. It was relatively peaceful there in the early 60s.

John, congrats on the anniversary. Remember, you are not older, just funnier.

Heeeeeeyyyyyy!!!!!.....Sit on it!!!

John, you truly deserve to live in a castle. The only castle I have been to was white and served mini-burgers that we called rectum rockets.

Would people shut up about the Blue album already. Don't get me wrong it's great. Everyone knows it's a great alt. rock record. So....... let's move on already.

Anybody listen to some Pinkerton lately?
